Meet Cindy
Cindy Bartlett is the owner of Brilliant Business Solutions Inc., which offers bookkeeping to law firms, businesses large and small, non-profit organizations and individuals on Vancouver Island. As a small business owner herself, she truly understands the importance of organizing paperwork and the value of great bookkeeping services and she offers those services to you.
Cindy has been working in law firms for over 20 years and is well practiced with the PC Law and ESI Law programs. This experience has given her a wealth of knowledge and experience working with the accounting rules of the Law Society of British Columbia, including trust accounting regulations.

Brilliant Business Solutions Inc. specializes in Sage 50 software for their bookkeeping clients. This software really meets the needs of small businesses and all of their accounting requirements.
Having trained for four years with H & R Block, Cindy offers income tax services for most individuals and self-employed people. With her experience and training, Cindy can handle all but the absolute most complicated tax issues - and even those she doesn't, she knows where to refer people so they are well cared for.
As a member of Nanaimo Executive Association, Cindy spends many hours volunteering as the Treasurer. This comes with an understanding that Boards don't always focus completely on their accounting and Cindy is ready to step in.
Cindy receives business coaching from Living in Balance Seminars Association as well as being a facilitator in this program. It's her way of giving back to the young entrepreneurs who are joining the program to build their business and their wealth. This unique program is for women Entrepreneurs, to create an empowering, positive context and foundation to build and lead their businesses, profession, vision and relationships with purpose, power, heart and balance. They acquire the tools to have success, wealth and freedom doing what they love, with the connection and support of like-minded women in the Living in Balance space. Our Team
Elaine Brown
Elaine joined Brilliant Business Solutions Inc. in November 2015, bringing with her a dedication to provide superior service to her clients. While working with a long-established business service up island, Elaine moved from reception to increasingly more responsible positions. After over 13 years with that company, Elaine began bookkeeping while taking courses through Thompson Rivers University and then moved to Nanaimo. During the past 10 years, Elaine has provided a variety of small businesses and non-profits with superior bookkeeping services, including government remittances and payroll.
Elaine continues to increase her knowledge base, being proficient with both Quickbooks Pro and Sage 50. She provides conscientious service and meets all government filing deadlines. In addition, she is also our T1 personal and self-employed income tax expert. Elaine has the "knack" of finding ways to increase your return!
Sandra Dutchak
Sandra joined our team in May 2017, bringing 20 years of experience in the retail and restaurant industries. Her skills range from setting up books for small self-employed businesses, maintaining complex books for high-volume businesses, non-profit organizations, and societies.
In addition to her expertise with the Sage 50, Quickbooks, and PC Law programs, Sandra recently completed a program to learn corporate tax preparation so that she can take care of our small business clients when it is time for their year-end tax preparation.
Sandra's sense of humour and dedication to providing the most accurate and cost-effective service to her clients makes her a great addition to Brilliant Business Solutions Inc.
Jan MacMillan
Jan joined Brilliant Business Solutions Inc. in October 2017, having worked in the legal community for over 30 years as a conveyancer and legal assistant. She has continuously upgraded her education and completed the Administration and Accounting programs at Northwest Community College.
Jan is proficient in PC Law, ESI Law, and ESI 360 programs and has a wealth of knowledge on trust accounting according to the Law Society Rules of British Columbia.
Currently, Jan is training under the supervision of our team to enhance her knowledge of general bookkeeping with the Sage 50 and Quickbooks programs. She is also responsible for booking and hosting all our mediations, discoveries, arbitrations, and meetings in the conference rooms that we offer at Brilliant!
Mona Mahovlic
Our team grew in April 2018 with the addition of Mona Mahovlic. Mona moved from Cranbrook back to Vancouver Island to be near her daughter, who is enrolled at VIU.
We benefit from Mona's 16+ years of bookkeeping for law firms. She is proficient in PC Law, ESI Law and has a wealth of knowledge on trust accounting according to the Law Society Rules of British Columbia.
Mona is a kind person who takes her work to heart. She is meticulous in her work habits, ensuring accurate and professional results.
